For Youth and Teens

After-school program

On Mondays through Thursdays from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, students from the neighborhood receive individual tutoring by Marie Anne Center staff, high school and college students and other dedicated volunteers.

Art and music classes

Throughout the school year, students have the opportunity to learn to play the guitar, drums… etc.

Girls’ Circle

Under the guidance of a teaching-minded adult, girls in grades 5-6 gather to discuss topics of interest.

Dance

Classes led by a high school student are given once a week when possible.

Kids’ squad

An officer from the Worcester Police Department offers classes on safety for children in grades 3-5.

Reading room

The reading room has many books available for children and youth.

Computer lab

Our goal is to enhance the computer skills of those in the area. The lab provides homework help and language-learning studies. Donated computers are made available to families.

Police/clergy mentoring

This program is a collaboration between communities of faith and the Worcester Police Department. A weekly presence allows children to have positive interactions with a police officer.

Teen Talk

This program, run in collaboration with the Edward Kennedy Health Center, addresses health issues relevant to teens and helps develop leadership among our neighborhood youth. We hope these teens learn to treat each other with respect, and in the process become good citizens in the Lincoln Street area.
